All about the Trossachs
The Trossachs is one of the most beautiful areas of Scotland, with mountains and lochs,
the towns of Callander and Aberfoyle and, in the midst of it all, the village of Brig
o Turk.
The three lochs, Venachar, Achray and Katrine, and the three mountains, Ben Aan, Ben
Ledi and Ben Venue make up the area called The Trossachs.
The Woodland Trust owns a large area of land around the village and Glen Finglas. The
Trust is currently re-generating old woodlands and creating a network of footpaths for
people to enjoy.

photographs of the stunning scenery.
Famous Visitors
Sir Walter Scott made The Trossachs famous with his poem The Lady of the
Lake (Loch Katrine). Millais and Ruskin stayed in the village of Brig o Turk
for four months in 1853. William Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy came to visit also.
Last, but certainly not least, Queen Victoria and members of her family visited and stayed
in the village.
Famous Ship
On Loch Katrine the famous steamer called the Sir Walter Scott runs daily during the
summer months, the scenery is stunning and walking and cycling can be enjoyed around the
loch side.
The Trossachs is a haven for wildlife and the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park is a great
place to visit to learn all about our red deer, eagles, ospreys and much, much more.
Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park
In recognition of the outstanding beauty of The Trossachs, the area has been included
in Scotlands first National Park - Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.
The Trossachs has whatever you are looking for in a holiday or short break - walking,
cycling, golf, fishing or touring the countryside. Of course, another option would be to
simply relax by a loch side whilst enjoying the magnificent views. Fishing and golf, and
the hiring of bicycles can all be arranged.
Many of our guests just keep coming back time after time.
